DAY EIGHTEEN -- TENTH SEPTEMBER -- HANMER SPRINGS TO GREYMOUTH

Today after a slow start weather-wise was quite sunny. Enough to say the scenery on our way to Greymouth was some of the most spectacular the we have seen so far. The roads were also the most winding too. We are lucky that there is still snow on many of the mountain tops.

We stopped for lu ch in this quant town were a local said when she moved to the town you went back 40 years in time! Great bakery and a lovely stop. Shops here often close Saturday and Sunday. They also have notices throughout New Zealand that they are short of staff!

Henry found a swimming centre close to the motel so an afternoon swim was in order.
