DAY TWENTY -- TWELTH SEPTEMBER -- FRANZ JOSEPH TO QUEENSTOWN
Today we rather reluctantly left our log fire (Henry had kept it alive all night) and head off to Queenstown. The distance was 350 kilometres. Only stopping for lunch and a few lookout stops it took Gary over 7 hours of driving!
The roads are in reasonable condition but two rather narrow lanes and very curvy for the most part. Not unusual to be doing 180 degree bends! Bridges (and there were dozens) are all one lane and you need to give way as indicated by the arrows.
The lookouts are plentiful as there are no other places to pull over! The scenery is brilliant..again I say the photos don't do it justice.
We arrived in Queenstown and our unit has a tremendous view of the lake. See last photo.
