 DAY THREE: AUCKLAND

Another day with showers predicted. After pub breakfast we walked through the city up to the art gallery.

I loved these (only a few of many) paintings of famous Maori people. I am also impressed by the fact that signs everywhere in public places are in two languages. In the public areas here too they are very fussy tonsure you are wearing your mask properly.

There was a sketching class going on with a live model (minimally clothed)..the boys thought it best Helen and I take a photo!

We enjoyed some of the other galleries too.

Not  sure about some of the "modern" art though!

These large deciduous trees are everywhere you go..must look unbelievable in the spring and summer because they are very impressive even now

We actually trudged back up to the Ramada (after a stop and a snack at a Korean restaurant.) These scooters are everywhere in the city and people hop on pay and off they go! Problem is they don't always wear the helmet and speed along in the traffic often at night without lights. I'm surprised  there aren't a lot of accidents! I would love a go but not game enough ...can't afford a spill at this stage of our trip!
Helen and Gary were meeting up with relatives but we decided on a restful afternoon and local dinner.

We enjoyed the morning browsing but of course some of the "modern" art left me cold (LOL)!
